Heard on 91.5 radio today Itzhak Perlman talking about listening. He said that what we hear during our playing is often different than how it sounds to the audience.  For example, it is not uncommon for a player to think he/she had a stinker concert, but on hearing a recording, it was great, or visa versa.
He says that emotions play a lot in the quality of our hearing and that what we think we hear is often dictated by our emotional self at the moment.  Consequently, he suggest to record yourself and listen critcally so you can train your ear to hear what you "really" sound like.

OK, so we are beginning to get ready for the Oct. 30 Spooktacular Concert.
